isnt the core of this entire issue the expansion of trans rights? sports gets headlines, as do silly ineffectual laws in southern states that amount to nothing. but there are still very real questions about not only legal rights, but also if we as a society should brand people with very negative labels based on their level of acceptance of trans narratives around trans identity. on a more topical level should we tell all public school children that dont understand statistics about trans identity even though only 1/100,000 or w/e people are trans, or should we let councilors try and identify people who are trans and handle these issues behind closed doors.
pendulums rarely swing from bigotry to dead center, i dont think we've gotten into lala land in most cases, but the resistance to that swing isn't entirely bigoted ben shapiro fanboys either.
The propensity for being trans is far higher than 1/100,000. Once we stop actively discriminating, I suspect it's going to get as high as one or two percent.
The real issue is that well-meaning centrists are eating propaganda from ben shapiro types who's only real agenda is cruelty. As a result you get people who have never met a trans person suddenly caring very deeply about how unfair it is, even though they never touched womens sports and have no clue to what extent the issue exists.
