Male to Female gets more attention than the reverse, gay men get significantly more attention than gay women (actually gay male relationships were illegal more often than gay female relationships, so it cuts both ways), MtF athletes are the only ones being talked about, etc. etc

The "mental illness" and "help they need" is a dog whistle. An entire apparatus of healthcare has been established, based off of efficacy and evidence, that people of your position do not support. What you're really advocating for is pseudoscience that dominated the earliest of efforts in working with transgender people and that had horrendous outcomes.

I'm not sure who "my people" are. If someone really feels that genital reassignment is the appropriate response for their problem, then far be it for me to tell them otherwise. There should obviously be safeguards in place to make sure that people aren't making a horrendous mistake, as seems often to have been the case, but no one is questioning the legality of the underlying procedure. But the notion that we need to radically overhaul the entirety of the English language, discriminate against women, and tolerate other evils because a handful of individuals demand that everyone else in the world recalculate to their "reality" is both absurd and offensive.

Surgeries are but one, optional part of transition-related healthcare and mental health services. The help that you believe they need, in terms of what is the most efficacious, is much more holistic than that.
