Nowadays, it isn't but it might have been culturally appropriate decades ago when people were ignorant thus less sensitive. I don't know the history behind it because I personally find it revolting and unfunny.

If it's for educational purposes, I agree; however if the professor or person in general has a racist past, it does look bad for the employer.
