The right in America has fully embraced being the anti-intellectual party, so it's not a high compliment when I say that left is more fact-based and intellectual than the right. Chris Hayes and Rachel Maddow are far more impressive intellectually than Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity.

The thing is they fully embraced being the anti-intellectual party well before I ever started paying attention to politics. Republicans I've been the party of not teaching evolution, not accepting climate change, and now this. This is not a significant departure from their actions for at least 20 years.

I think this is an argument the left makes that minimizes how radicalized and fact-free the party has gotten since Trump took over. I'll concede the party has embraced a certain anti-intellectualism for quite a while... but it hasn't always been as bad as it is now.

We can't ignore the sort of reactionary contrarianism of a person like Tucker Carlson, who manages to be an apologist for COVID trutherism and QAnon. Bill O'Reilly wouldn't have pulled that shit.
