I can't speak on the vile bit because I don't think he's evil or racist but integrity and competence are both important qualities in a leader. Sadly it's hard to get an honest politician so I've no doubt biden will have his share of corrupt dealings but corruption that comes at the expense of citizenry (corruption around ppe and jared kushner) leaves a bad taste. You might not have a problem with it because the pandemic was largrly a blue state problem as far as trump was concerned.

Working-class voters across the Western world have slowly been trending toward right-wing parties for decades, college-educated voters have trended toward liberal parties for decades. This long-running trend was super-charged during Trump's tenure, so that the base of the GOP going forward will be the voters receptive to populism. Since most of the GOP establishment are actually donor class adjacent elites, they need this kind of virtue signalling to their base to remain viable and avoid getting primaried, no matter how blatant and phony it is. So yes, this stuff is only going to get worse.
