The reality is that it won't hurt Trump. Trump's defenders create alternative narratives anytime he does something bad(look at Russiagate, Ukraine, etc). So this pushes his supporters further away from reality, it forces Republican politicians to move that way as well, and there's zero political consequences.

There's no motive for me to wish this were true, because if it is true, there's no positive outcomes. It's all bad.


Especially the outcome where it isn't true and you look stupid.

a lot of the media and swamp demons exist to profit off of never-ending nonstop no-win wars. they attend countless cocktail parties where they discuss how to get more of our young men and women shipped off to some war-torn zone so they can profit off the sales made by armaments companies to facilitate the wars

I don't think the media is trying to influence Afghanistan policy. I do think that they jumped the gun in releasing contents. I'm not a fan of releasing intelligence, no matter how credible, because the American people don't have the capacity to evaluate it properly. It's almost certainly true that Russia paid the Taliban to kill US troops. But so what? The President is between a rock and a hard place on that one. Sanctions are probably appropriate but if the President doesn't want to do that, that's his prerogative. I do think Congress has a right to investigate the intelligence behind closed doors and they should.
