If we hadn't taken steps to prevent the spread it's not exaggeration to say 100% of the country would be infected by now and the number of dead would see a commensurate increase.
Cars have utility which justifies their existence.
People who are 20-50 with no underlying health issues aren't the only ones who are productive.
Mortality isn't the only important metric for loss as a result of viral infection.
