if that's what actually happened, it's of course not the US' direct fault the plane was shot down, but let's be clear about one thing: it would not have happened if this administration hadn't broken the deal, escalated tensions with iran, and assassinated soleimani. again, that's IF it was an overeager AA operator misidentifying a civilian aircraft for an attack, which at this point seems to be the most likely scenario.
it's an incredible tragedy, and the least thing iran should do is to allow international investigators unrestricted access to the scene, be transparent about their role, and hold the responsible individuals accountable - given the circumstances, however, i don't see that last part happening.
