What the DNC really risks is that media crusade getting usurped by Trump and letting him steal political victories that democrats are handing him. If he gets the credit for banning bump stocks and improving mental health screenings, then he gets the bipartisan applause while democrats are left screeching that its not enough and we need to repeal the second amendment.


Realistically speaking that can't be done at once. It will always be baby steps towards a more sensible gun situation. In a way, it's nice to see a form of democracy where these type of movements can actually demand a reform.

My dog is a useless lump at hunting who was only trained to have fun running around in the woods, but she accidentally flushed out grouse without even seeing or smelling them last year. Not that I even bother shooting. I am a crack shot, but, any time there is a gunshot in the woods, even miles in the distance, she hits the ground and refuses to go anywhere but back to the truck. I could pick her up and carry her, its pointless.

He's appealing to the masses for something that probably won't make a tiny bit of difference, but it's better than nothing. Most importantly, what he's asking for can realistically be accomplished, a full ban on assault weapons is still a few mass shootings away.
