There is a HUGE difference between regular bacteria and bacteria that is infused with DNA to create a moral being (or a human, for naturalists).

both bacteria and humans have DNA

Bacteria and humans are both life.

Just saying you should be more clear when you are posting.

Mistake number one - assuming we are somehow more valuable than bacteria in the grand scheme of things.

FYI bacteria has dna too.

Well, I'd argue we are, because it is very unlikely that bacteria are subjects of experience.

you can't detach the concept of value from those who create it, value is something fundamentally human and it really makes no sense to try to find it as a property of non-human beings.
this "grand scheme of things" doesn't matter at all when values are discussed.

Don't see how that changes my point... There is no value, we are not more valuable... same thing.

I agree. I just would really like HST to get some book-learning so his posts become more legible.

i'm absolutely certain that i make value judgments all the time, the fact that non-conscious beings are incapable of making them doesn't mean that my value judgments don't exist or that they're not valuable.

I specifically said, a moral being (or human, if you're a naturalist).

If you cannot grasp being human is not a subject of our own experience, I don't know what to tell you.
If you cannot differentiate between a bacteria that is infused with HUMAN DNA and some bacteria that is living underneath your toilet, again, I give up.

Bacteria that is infused with the DNA to create a human, yes. It's obviously different than some bacteria living under your toilet. I already said this above.

...

That's not how a human being is made... did your Dad not give you 'the talk'?

So here it is - God makes little babies out of clay and then gives them to big white storks which fly them down in little picnic hampers and leave them on mommies' and daddies' doorsteps.
