Blows my mind that a 14 year old can work 48 hour weeks in a first world country.

But if he wants to? He should be allowed to, provided that he has parental consent. 14 is young, but not that young.

Here 14-year old's can work, but they need the express consent of their guardian.

It's pathetic we are having this conversation at all.

Kids are required to be there. Just fucking feed them. There's no reason this should even be a conversation except a ton of people are massive pieces of shit who would rather kids be in the mines than at school

I think Addone is saying that some kids want to work, voluntarily. And when they are about the age of 14 or so, this really isn't something that should be against the law. 14 year olds are old enough to know for themselves whether they want to work. I think the only case where there might be an issue is if the 14 year old doesn't want to work, but his parents force him to.

so the appropriate punishment is letting kids go hungry? gotcha.

I am not saying that it's good that some kids go hungry, but I kind of think that it is the parents' responsibility to feed their kids.

I actually don't mind if parents ask their kids to get work. But the kids should have the right to choose which job they want. The little shits need to earn their keep.
This generation is filled with pansies, it was almost unheard of during our grandparents time. You had to work when you were a kid period. It wasn't even a debate. You ever try to talk back dad would take his belt and give you a lashing you would never forget.
Not saying we should be beating up kids but there needs to be some discipline instilled.

The actual change in the law removes the mandate that 14-15 year olds need to get permission from the government and obtain a certificate in order to work.

The change is good and has nothing to do with 11 year olds or dangerous work conditions.

This thread brought to you by the same economic illiterate who wanted to ban destitute children from working in the third world, and ban factories and foreign investment in poor countries.

Link to the actual bill text.

https://www.arkleg.state.ar.us/Bills/FTPDocument?path=%2FBills%2F2023R%2FPublic%2FHB1410.pdf

Section 1, sub c (2) of said bill:

Nowhere else in the bill does it state the requirement to verify age in any other fashion.

Can't help but notice Cam was in fact caught telling a lie and then left never to acknowledge it.

Nope. You were explicitly wrong. You're inability to admit fault doesn't change that

Still wondering if Cam is ever going to address the lack of age verification with this bill.

Its OK to think for yourself surfpunk. You dont have to pretend i was wrong just because that clown just said so. I already noted age verification exists indepently of that law.
If a 15 year old claimed to be 17 do you think they just dont bother identifying them, even before these changes?
Identification is required when filling out tax forms / starting a new job.
