In case anyone missed it, the acting Homeland Security Secretary left Friday.

It's hard to believe this constant churn in National Security positions doesn't have consequences.

I'm really glad that we at least found a good and steady Sec. of State in Pompeo. Imagine State being in constant turmoil as well...

also thank god Ben Carson has been holding it down in the HUD position. /s

done nothing but few scandals other than a overpriced set of furniture.

Betsy DeVoss has also been fairly steady. she barked a bit on voucher programs but there hasn't been much movement from her department. which is both good (i dont like many of her ideas) and sad (since education needs some serious reform).

the thing is... inaction or bad decisions at HUD or education can be made up or corrected by the successors - but bad decisions or inaction at the State department can very easily have irreversible consequences. Secretary of State is considered the most important and prestigious cabinet position for a reason.

i agree completely. they're low prio depts by comparison in the context of undoable actions. education is just in a weird fucking place right now, so 4-8 years of no action could still be bad.

So lets ask: How does ABC news wind up playing a clip of a firing range and claiming its Turks slaughtering Kurds. How does that wind up getting the way to broadcast and being authoritatively stated as fact, how does that video clip get broadcast nationwide? How can there be not even the minimal amount of journalistic integrity required to verify the images they are showing to the American public?
Not to mention- who edited the video to crop out the onlookers? In the source video, there's an entire crowd of people watching the display with cellphones out, recording footage and making a night of it. Someone had to consciously edit the video to show only the guns and bombs without any of the audience. Did ABC get rused, or did ABC do it themselves? Neither is acceptable

honestly i'd rather them show range clips while they're reporting (and report it as such) than show live action video where u see someone die. but that's neither here nor there.

American media has long repressed actual war footage as it would ignite American dissent. In this instance we see yet another example of major billionaire-owned media swapping out real war footage for less offensive firing range footage to water down the imagery and repress social opinion. They had to report on the news because people are talking about it and it gets them clicks and ad revenue, but they sure as hell don't have to show the brutal truth. Because that would be bad for the orgiastic establishment war machine.

Is anyone actually surprised by this?

The right will point this out as a clear cut example of reporting bias, and the left will ignore this until it goes away while point over at the latest constructed scandal.

This is why so many people distrust the media. There is a clear and obvious agenda here.
