I'll admit, I'm having a hard time defending this logical sequence when the first part of the sequence is: Abortion is murder.

This is the atheism thread. Let's put a stronger religious tone on this question rather than a legal one.

If abortion is murder because it is killing a human life, is miscarriage god's wrath? Did he intend for that fetus to die?

Is the fetus saved? Does the fetus go to hell for eternity? Maybe there is some special exception? I'm struggling to find the verse in the Bible that addresses the eternal fate of the fetus after a miscarriage.

I'm not religious in case you weren't aware.

Yeah, abortion isn't murder. Murder is murder, abortion is abortion. They are separate words for a reason.

A miscarriage isn't murder or manslaughter either. Sometimes things just die, especially when they are incomplete or in-development but not yet realized or personified. It isn't really a separate living thing form the mom until the line is cut.

This question is for general conversation.

I just think when we talk about abortion in the context of the pro-life movement/religion, miscarriage poses a very interesting wrinkle.

Five and a half months is pretty far along :( Especially over something as trivial as a breakup.

I question the setting they were at, depending on where the interview was with the social worker she should be protected by confidentiality and if not the social worker has to inform her that what is being said is not in confidence, but that is for court stuff. I don't know if mandatory reporting laws extend to a fetus that was already aborted. Social worker could be in some trouble there.

Troubling. Not surprised considering the local.

To be more clear, miscarriage is not involuntary manslaughter, even if you value the sanctity of life, because involuntary manslaughter requires criminal negligence.

By that definition, then I think some cases of miscarriage could be classified as involuntary manslaughter, like the link Duffman shared.

Back to the more religious-themed question since this is the atheist thread:

If abortion is murder because it is intentionally killing human life, is miscarriage god's wrath? Did he intend for that fetus to die?

Is the fetus saved? Does the fetus go to hell for eternity? Maybe there is some special exception?

age of consent. before you are an adult you cant make choice on your own behalf, some consider sin to follow the law in this sense.

Christians who believe that young children that die go to hell have always perplexed me, fetuses moreso.
