That's not possible really. The GOP will just be a minority for a while until they start courting the center-left. Or, the GOP will be no more and we'll have another party that replaces them. Regardless, we will always have 2 major parties.
Its hardly unprecedented in american history. The RNC has been suffering from demographics shifts that steadily push it further and further out of the electable range, and rather than adapt a reactionary element gave its last gasp.
The tea party showed a destabilized republican party at risk of fracturing and thus losing its national majority. Then the trump movement showed an RNC that has completely lost control. Seems we're accelerating towards that forecasted republican doom
Another party replacing them is most likely, but there could be some period of political upheaval before it reaches a stable 2 parties. If democrats get a monopoly, they will fracture to infighting and develop factions
