This article is out of date and has factual inaccuracies. We now know a lot more about the motives of some of the people and have a lot more evidence of violence. I agree with the general premise that this wasn't a coup and it was an incredibly pathetic insurrection instead. People need to choose their words carefully.

And the capital police was purposefully understaffed due to incompetence.

And the Democrats are dishonest and offensive by nature.

A failed coup is what happened in Turkey, where a legitimate faction of the armed forces attempted to seize power through military means and assassinate Erdogan. Tanks in the street, jets in the sky, a legitimate conspiracy involving high ranking members of the political / military elite with the theoretical power to accomplish a takeover of government.

To compare what happened at the Capitol to the above is comical.
