another example of things that have never been really tested
and that we shouldn't have to deal with
but yes
trump can probably pardon himself preemptively if he wants
and he can probably blanket pardon everyone involved in storming the capitol
i have to assume that he can't legally "sell" pardons
but...

Trump can't pardon himself. The same memo that acknowledges Nixon could preemptively be pardoned is married to the president being unable to pardom himself. Nixon resigned so Ford could pardom him. Would Pence pardon Trump? Risky after Pence was being attacked by people with zip ties and the pres wouldn't take his calls or call off the mob immediately.

TRY to pardon himself?
i can't imagine a memo is legally binding
if he did try
who would decide on something like that?

If Trump was smart, which he is not, he'd step down and have Pence give the pardon tomorrow on his final day.
