I'm not sure what proof would exist. Viruses can't be seen and their genome mutates over time. If I had a background in reading genomes, maybe I could contribute more.

One likely theory from what I'm seeing is that it accidentally leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology or another similar lab. Possibly by person or through selling or disposing of a test animal.

Similarly likely is the popular theory in the news of dirty bat to human transmission naturally.

The less likely explanation is a man-made vector that accidentally leaked from a lab. No evidence for that now it seems.

Indeed, we cant prove what we cant prove. even if we had likely evidence that it was a manmade variant of some flu we couldnt pin it on the chinese as they'd just deny deny deny.

but, there's ample evidence of both animal to human pathogens and specifically flu pathogens passing to humans.

you should watch the JRE with Michael recently done, he goes over many animal to human pathogens and gives examples of flus specifically.

Well, snails and sick goose liver are considered delicacies in your country, so perhaps you shouldn't be criticizing the Chinese about their gastronomy too much...

That was 70 years ago...

1978 the government allowed people to hunt, farm and consume wildlife. Let to the creation of farms of turtles and snakes.

1988 the government regulated and promoted the industry of wild animal farming, leading to the creation of new farms for all sorts of wild animals.

Last I checked, that was not 70 years ago, let alone "a hundred years".

And the wine was traditionally made, by having peasants squeezing the grapes with their bare feet... which, considering pre-20th century hygiene standards among peasants, probably weren't too clean...

The Italian government is ridiculous. I'm so glad our government in Spain doesn't give a fuck about this bullshit virus and is not only not cancelling mass events, demonstrations, and celebrations, but encouraging people to go on with their lives as normal as long as they take precautions and are aware that there's a risk of becoming infected.

So far the only thing they've done is shut down several hundreds of centers for the elderly, since senior citizens are pretty much the only ones in risk of suffering serious consequences from the disease.

The Chinese gov is in full spin mode:

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Implies US Military Brought Coronavirus to Wuhan

On Thursday, Lijian Zhao, an official spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took to Twitter to insinuate that “it might be US army who brought the epidemic to Wuhan.” Zhao, no stranger to Twitter controversy, added that the United States should “be transparent” and “make public your date.” The “US owe us an explanation,” he added.

That message was then taken up by Chinese diplomats overseas. For example, the Chinese ambassador to South Africa, repeated that line. Messaging underplaying the suspected zoonotic origins of the disease in China’s Hubei province were combined with a celebration of China’s national response and its implications for the world: “China’s endeavor to combating the epidemic has bought time for int’l preparedness,” the Chinese foreign ministry suggested this week.
