I see people making the same argument... but it's not convincing in the slightest. I guess the official rationale is "continuity of government", but aren't high profile officials receiving the vaccine helpful to encourage others to get it? Routing the necessary number of vaccines to Congress and the White House is more important from a messaging standpoint.
We're a nation that elected Donald Trump. American citizens are nuts. Showing that the highest officials in government are getting the vaccine is more important than health officials or frontline workers.
I get the argument, I just dont think that it applies to a person like Sinema. You have to keep in mind that we (pard) are not a representative sample. How many of the nutty, shockingly uneducated ordinary Americans know who Kyrsten Sinema is? How many are following her twitter feed and will be reached by her message?
Biden is the big one. He's the most crucial person in the nation going forward, and he's from a risk group, so he definitely should get the shot very soon - and he's prominent enough. People know and care about him. His vaccination should definitely be televised and covered in the media. It's the one that will sway the most people.

Messaging is important. If two high risk people are convinced to take it then it was a positive.
This argument would be valid if vaccines were already abundant and the only limiting factor were the participation rates. The opposite is true right now: vaccine supply will remain below demand for many months. At some point in summer, 50% of the country has already been vaccinated and herd immunity comes down to convincing the remaining 10-20% who are still on the fence - but by that point, no one will remember a clip from the twitter feed of a random senator from 6 months ago.
