Warhammer 40k, though this depicts events that happened 10,000 years earlier in the 31st millenium.

Bit inaccurate imo. Ted Cruz is Horus Lupercal, a superhuman warrior corrupted and driven mad by the forces of chaos (powerful entities that live in the space outside of our universe that are born out of negative human emotions) who has just slain (perhaps only mortally wounded according to some legends) his brother Sanguinius (Rubio) before going on to fight with their father, the Emperor of mankind (Trump) who he then also mortally wounds. As the emperor is dying he lets loose a psychic blast of energy so powerful it not only kills Horus but obliterates his very soul. As he does this he senses sanity return to his son just before he is destroyed forever. The emperor is put in the Golden Throne, a kind of psychically charged seat that keeps him alive but is powered by the sacrifice of a thousand souls to it daily. It is unknown whether he is conscious for this but his psychic power still has many effects on the universe that are largely beneficial to the Imperium of Man.

Yep. I am a nerd.

I haven't played the game since I was about 14 but I continue reading the books to this day. They are pretty good if you like dark gothic sci-fi. The Hours heresy period (the period leading up to the events I described) is particularly good imo. It's a very rich universe having had hundreds of books and short stories written on it by many different authors.
