Because Israel is the oppressor.

This conversation is likely to be derailed snipa noting we are reaching a point where several users are starting to have heart palpitations and itchy fingers.

this is imo an oversimplified view of a complex and dynamic situation. israel is the "oppresor", sure. but before the war in gaza post-10-7 Saudis and other regional powers were on the brink of signing the Abraham accords with Israel in a strategic partnership. and behind closed doors they've been sharing intel for a decade or more. this means they co-signed the treatment of Gaza pre-war as "acceptable". so its not a stretch to suggest they have real responsibilities here.

beyond that the lens of oppressor and oppressed may be good for applying blame, but it doesnt have the same effect on lasting peace. if we want peace we cant just hold 1 group accountable, remember WW1? how'd that go?

I don't think skepticism is a form of TDS. You're welcome to believe and obay gov't as if their word is gospel. I shall exercise free thought. For some though it's just easier to obay and take everything as fact and that's okay there will always be drones among us.

with brevity, highlighting that Donald Trump has a pattern of making (some) false or exaggerated statements is not, in itself, an example of "Trump Derangement Syndrome" (TDS). In fairness, alot of politcal leaders in the current day will make false or exaggerated statements.

It is TDS when that skepticism is selectively applied to Donald Trump, and not others where an otherwise equivalent environment exists.

That's the root of TDS - yes, it is good to be skeptical of politician's statements as they often lie and embellish, but this is applied to Donald Trump by those afflicted by TDS in an absurd and irrational manner

thats the funny thing, everyone says its complex, yet Israel continues to expand in the west bank, undermined Palestinian leadership, flattened gaza when it had other options, refuses to consider the two state solution and is, by any account, an apartheid state. so when you say the oppressed need to suck it up and not be violent, my counter claim is, those palestinian leaders not seeking violence were sidelined or removed by Israel therefore Israel im sorry, but its pretty simple to me. So a pathway to peace would be to recognize the palestinian authority and support it, and its quest for the two state solution.

from what i understand Israeli officials have said if the situation was reversed they would be just like the Palestinians.

I try to always look at this (and everything) from a logic standpoint.

Yes except I express it over most NA leaders currently in power. Just like I had no problem denying each time the Biden agency exaggerated his good health and mental capacity.

Perhaps it is you projecting your onesided thinking concluding that everyone acts the same as you would. Just the same as I shit on Carney for his housing plans I'd happily shit on polly if his were garbage as well.

is it logical for people who have been oppressed for nearly 100 years to accept ANY leadership that is supported by their oppressor? no. its not logical at all.

the reason the PA is as unpopular as it is in the west bank is because they're too closely aligned with Israel.

i dont think they need to suck it up and not be violent, that's too soft. they need to have a regime in place that forces non-violence for a period of time to try and reset sentiment towards peace.

keep in mind this is 100% in my posts under the lens of a 2 state solution, or likely a 3 state solution with a non-unified gaza and west bank. both independent vassal states to Saudis. or perhaps 1 to Qatar, based on recent geopolitics.

I would argue that, when taking your idea, and applying it to Israel, if Israel were to stop its rapid expansions in the west bank, israeli society could potentially break down, on the basis that this could be perceived as a punishment. the fact that israel is stealing this land (punishing the palestinians and removing their future) is not seen by israel as a punishment.

noting the historic culture of "this land is ours yesterday, today and tomorrow" no israeli leader would survive reversing, REVERSING settlement expansions. The map over time of the West Bank, tells its own story.

Being irrationally skeptical about everything is no different than being irrationally obedient about everything. Its just the other side of the irrational coin.

This argument makes absolutely no sense

It's extremely valid to apply skepticism selectively because person X is different than person Y. If you found out your babysitter is a convicted child molester, you would be more skeptical of them than if your babysitter was your brother. It doesn't matter if the equivalent environment exists and they behave identically, their past affects how skeptical you are about their actions
