Looks like we're gonna get another lockdown, until at least 19th of Jan, starting tonight at 00:00...
Honestly I'm getting more and more angry over time towards the fucks that don't keep to the advice and measures regarding Covid. I want the govt to start pulling out the stick instead of just promising a carrot in the future.
Companies that can work from home but don't need to be fined. People who ignore Covid measures need to be fined. Airports should be closed for people transport.
I haven't seen some of my best friends since March. I have seen my family 2 times since then.
Yes, I agree that really forcing companies to go with home office wherever it's possible is urgently needed. Other than that, I really dont think that the escalation of the situation in our countries can be attributed exclusively to those flouting the covid measures - every day, we have millions of schoolchildren sitting in crowded classrooms and schoolbuses, millions of workers commuting in crowded public transport, spending hours next to their coworkers, creating connections between their families, etc.
Even in South Korea, where compliance and contact tracing are as good as it can possibly get in a free, democratic society, shit is starting to hit the fan:

At this rate, even South Korea will probably not get over this winter without imposing a hard lockdown at some point.
I think the world really underestimated how difficult it would be to keep the virus under control during cold season. In spring, Europe and the U.S. probably got more lucky than we realized at the time because the pandemic only escalated in mid March, when we were just a few weeks away from spring. It seems that keeping schools, factories and most businesses open during cold season eliminates almost all room for error, but at the same time, it's obvious that we cannot afford to shut these things down for prolonged periods of time, let alone for months on end until April.
