Has nothing to do with pointing out that there wasn't some magic new turnout operation based on memes, but I guess you've gotta go with what you're capable of. :(
I'm of the theory that Trump played for the electoral college and didn't concern himself with the popular vote. If it had been a popular vote contest, I think his strategy would have been extremely different and I'm fully confident he would have won that too.
Ignoring certain states demonstrates that this was never a basic popular vote contest in either of the candidates minds.
