voting record, ideological stance or political record?
he's no rotten tomato I'll grant you, but he is pretty tarnished from pandering to regressives
that old bread is pretty stale and hurts your teeth to bite into. "barely edible bread with spots of mold" isn't a big seller

To be fair, all this record shows is that Biden always tried to pander adjust to the mainstream of the Democratic party at the respective time. In 92, after almost 2 decades of asswhoopin at the hands of Republicans in presidential elections, the whole party shifted very far to the center. This is the time the infamous crime bill and the Clinton welfare cuts to single moms and all this stuff was passed.

Similarly, nowadays, after Democrats have shifted to the left a ton, he has also adopted far more liberal stances on almost all issues.


So I would say a fair assessment is that this record doesnt prove Biden to be a reactionary fossil, it proves him to be an opportunistic unideological career politician.

paul wellstone was there for a bunch of lone dissent votes in the party. Then he died in a plane crash, then it was the whole party
