first off, at this point denying ilhan omar married her brother is like denying the moon landing. We've got so much proof we basically know what she ate for breakfast every day for the past decade, its a mountain of evidence
but the 'motive' isn't hard
Ilhan's family got split up during their emigration from Kenya and half went to the US and half went to the UK, under fraudulent identities (at least in the US). Her brother was thus not a naturalized US citizen like she was, but was attending college in Duluth, so by marrying him she expedited his citizenship process, which would be sped up dramatically as a spouse of a US citizen, and also allowed him to claim married-filing-separately status to get lower student loan repayments on an income-based plan. At some point he abandoned pursuing citizenship, possibly due to her political aspirations or fear of their tax fraud being discovered, but its a pretty clear motive.

That said, motive isn't that relevant. We have proof they were married, so does it really matter why? We can speculate over a whole host of reasons, but there's such abundant proof they were married and lied about it repeatedly (and clumsily), I don't see why we need to fill in the blanks.

You know being the sibling of a us citizen is the exact same for immigration as the spouse right?
No one has produced this "mountain of evidence".
Omars family records state she is the youngest of 7, he is claimed to be three years younger than her, and he is never mentioned anywhere.
Fact is i have spent hours looking this shit up and found zero proof he is blood related to her.

I have cited it repeatedly, in many threads, and I'm a little sick of dumping the documents because its so hilariously detailed.
Also Omar's official immigration records say two daughters were born 3 months apart to the same mother and list her being officially 'reunited' with an Omar family in Virginia, where she got her social security number, but then immediately moved away from and never had any contact with them again nor listed them as family/siblings once in office and questioned about it. Because her immigration documents are obviously fraudulent.

Because the republicans despise her and they have all the power in the world right now to look into it, the reason they have not done so is because they know its bullshit.

They're easily verifiable documents. If they had been faked by the journalists who reported them, they would have been mercilessly excoriated by the Omar defense squad

They don't have all the power in the world to look into it. Most of it falls under state jurisdiction, and that would be up to the discretion of Keith Ellison, and she's Ellison's direct successor in the MN-5 seat.
The parts that fall under federal jurisdiction and could be proven in court are also things that have no recourse. We have proof she filed her taxes illegally, but so what? The IRS doesn't even investigate tax fraud if its below a certain value, because its cheaper than wasting resources trying to recover minor fraud. Any attempt by Trump officials to weaponize the FBI against her would instantly backfire as her political allies call it persecution. Have you turned on the news for the past month? Look what happened when Trump just politely asked Ukraine to look at Biden's crimes. You'd have to be playing zero-dimensional chess to not look ahead 1 move and see how badly it would go if Republicans tried to skewer Omar.
Besides, if they really did want to abuse their offices to go after her, it would be poor timing to do it in 2018-2019. Her many scandals are an albatross that would be perfect to hang around the necks of the democrats in 2020. She has continued to be a perpetual thorn in the side of the DNC and every time she's up on TV, support for republicans gets a boost. Why would they want to get rid of her? If they're going to kill the golden goose, they're going to do it when its most advantageous in about ~6 months.

And for that matter, local state republicans have been forcing investigations into Omar. Rep. Steve Drazkowski already initiated an FEC complaint that found she committed 6+ violations, and is now pushing a formal request for initiating a house ethics investigation into her. The RNC and Trump don't control him, no puppet strings there, he's just been railing against her for the past couple years. But republicans don't control the house, and Nancy Pelosi isn't about to sanction Omar, for all the same reasons her toxicity is already benefiting the republicans. Its bad enough she's a thorn in the DNC's side, but trying to pull her out would backfire even harder for the dems and cause a progressive revolt.
