https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/senate-rejects-democratic-bill-codify-abortion-rights-rcna17968Senate bill to codify abortion at the federal level "even if roe v wade is struck down by the courts" has officially failed in a 46-48 vote, with Joe Manchin crossing party lines to help kill the bill
it wasn't even close, needed 60 votes without going nuclear,
and even if all votes were present would still lose 51-49 due to manchin going against it
it never had a hope of becoming a real law, and even if it did it would be immediately challenged by states since it would try to overturn their local laws and be a question of jurisdiction, a question we won't need to resolve because its dead jim
So, no federal abortion law from this congress. Not even if they went nuclear.
#1 Problem with senate/congress right there.
