I forget what thread it was, but some time ago there were cultists minimizing Trump's pre-election day anti-democracy statements as irrelevant. The statements didn't matter because the only thing that matters from the President of the United States are actions.

Now the statements have turned into reality... and these people are completely silent.

And I've been in a city that's been under martial law for the last 8 months, unless you want to violently riot, in which case you're good. I'm much less concerned about the actions of the POTUS than I am of my mayor and governor. You find me a solution to Wheeler and Brown, I'll take you seriously. The ONLY good thing to come out of 2020 was Trump's FBI deputizing sheriffs so violent rioters could be charged federally for the crimes the state DA wouldn't bring charges over.

We had 140 days (nights, more accurately) of straight rioting. No estimate has been floated for the damage. Hundreds of millions at the least, but we just don't know. Dozens dead, hundreds injured. Homes (including low income and minority) burned to the ground.

It's not been a fun time, and the "response" from state and local authorities has been, "Cops arrest rioters who are on VIDEO burning shit and attacking people, DA refuses to prosecute, rioters are released." Meanwhile, businesses have had licenses yanked and owners have been arrested for attempting to put food on their table, and their employees tables.

I'm not partisan on this. Right is right, wrong is wrong. When you go and invest several hundred thousand to purchase a private property, several hundred thousand more to turn it into a respectable business, and have to look after the welfare of dozens of employees, only to have somebody arbitrarily come along and say, "You're closed, and not getting fuckall for you or your employees" then you'll be in the know. Until then, you're a random child on the internet.
