Mike Pence said one of his role models for VP is Dick Cheney.

Cheney was arguably the most powerful VP ever, and probably one of the worst in the country's history, too.

Cheney left office with a 13% approval rating. I don't know who is advising Pence, but this was a bad move to make. Cheney was terrible.

Trump offered to make John Kasich the most powerful VP ever, with control over both domestic and foreign policy.

Trump's role? To make America great again. I'm not kidding.

Pence is probably trying to win over some Neocons. Hard to see if it will play out well or not.

The last group he needs to reach out to is old white men. He's got that demographic sealed, and it's basically the only one he has. (the reason I think the race isn't as tight as current polling shows)
