understanding that requires a little bit of nuance, perspective, and empathy. so there's zero chance that right wing bigots would get it.

There was no backlash coming. The backlash was entirely fabricated by spreading blatant lies about how CRT teaches white kids they are inferior for being white. Fabrications that you ate up without a second thought and continue to eat up to this very day despite multiple corrections. You are literally still parroting talking points that you've been corrected on by a half a dozen different users.

Oh look, we devolved back into the same conversation again, because you refused to take correction again, because you are for some reason fundamentally opposed to updating your views.

You're out of touch.

Parents are concerned with the curriculum their children are being taught, much of which they've seen first-hand as a result of the pandemic and Democrat-initiated school closures. And they're very concerned that advanced placement courses are being curtailed, that merit-based admissions to prestigious secondary schools are under attack, and that math courses are being diluted in an effort to raise grades in underperforming communities. The parents raising these concerns are often the very same people who voted for Biden over Trump. These measures are very unpopular with Asians, who do exceedingly well in schools, and they're almost equally unpopular with Hispanics, who see competitive, meritocratic education as the means by which their kids can get ahead.

Don't take my word for it, just read the New York Times.

In California, plans to place less emphasis on calculus in an effort to address persistent racial and socioeconomic disparities in math achievement have spawned furious backlash. So, too, did the announcement last fall that New York City schools would be winding down their gifted and talented program, which has been widely criticized for exacerbating segregation — an announcement that Mayor Eric Adams has begun to walk back.

...

Mr. Youngkin was one of the first to recognize that these anxieties could be used for political gain, and he carefully tailored his messaging to parents from both affluent families and the conservative movement. In his appeals to the Republican base, he railed against critical race theory and claimed that allies of George Soros had inserted “operatives” on local school boards. To centrist parents, he pledged to undo admissions policy changes aimed at bolstering diversity at Virginia’s prestigious Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, where graduates regularly go on to attend Ivy League universities.

Thomas Jefferson High School, for reference, is majority Asian. Asians are overrepresented because they overperform everyone else on the admissions tests. It's such a prestigious school because its merit based admissions program ensures that it attracts a high caliber of student talent. So while Democrats deflect from their constituent's brutal attacks on Asians nationwide, they're specifically targeting and undermining Asian success. Republicans aren't making inroads among Asians and Hispanics because they've suddenly developed extremely novel and effective propaganda, as nice as that would be to believe. They're making gains in those communities because the communities themselves are reevaluating their core interests. What Republicans are doing, and did in VA, is identify that this represents an electoral opportunity, and they're incorporating those community concerns into their platform.

These promises seem to have worked. A recent focus group conducted by a Democratic polling firm showed that education was the top issue cited by Joe Biden supporters who had voted or considered voting for Mr. Youngkin.

Again, reference Democratic polling outlets reported on by Democratic media. Biden voters switched to the Republican candidate in large part because the Democratic position on education alienated those voters. These are Tucker Carlson watching fanatics, they're the constituencies that drove Trump out of office. If these people are your enemies, then the Democratic party is truly done for.
