Your argument seems to be, if states abolish the death penalty, a lot fewer people will die. I don't dispute this. However this is irrelevant because my goal is not to try and reduce the number of deaths.

whether you're pro or anti death penalty it matters, objectively, because it reduces the deaths by thousands. either it matters because u think its good, or bad. but the number of less dead people matters regardless of your position.

so what's your goal?

My goal is merely to share my perception of the situation...

that being that thousands less dying doesnt matter because a few dozen still die. not your opinion of course, just your perception.

It doesn't matter to me in the sense that it's not something I gave thoughts to. It's not because I love it when more people die.
