its because its cheaper and easier to audit poor people. for the same reason poor people get audited, rich people dont. the IRS doesnt have the resources to audit huge companies/rich people as often as they should which is why the bill was put in place to begin with. more auditors, more income for the IRS.
its so easy for rich people to cheat taxes because their filings are so much more complex than your average American's. Republicans love to lie and cheat, so of course they dont want more IRS agents. its not rocket science lmao

its not about "going after" anybody, its more about holding everyone to the same standard. right now the IRS doesn't have the personnel or resources to function as they should so poor people are disproportionately more likely to be audited because its easier

The IRS doesn't target the rich is because they don't pay income tax. Even if they wanted to and had unlimited and the latest greatest tools on the planet they cannot tax that which is untaxable "debt".
Effectively this is just a bigger shakedown on the poor and middle class.
