Article kind of goes down a niche rabbit hole that those outside of Christian conservative politics would be unaware of, but I'm basically where the author is at. I consider myself a pragmatist but codifying gay marriage into law is a step too far.

Update: The bill passed through the house of representatives today with a 258-169 vote while Vicky Hartzler, who lost reelection, cried a river of crocodile tears.
