Different times, different places, different situations, not really comparable.

Thor is right. Cheney has explained that she will vote for Democrats if it means voting against election denyers. I don't know why it's hard for people to understand... democracy is more important than tax cuts or whatever other policy preference someone has. Democracy wasn't previously a position up for debate... in the age of Trump, it is.

Cheney isn't just voting against election deniers, she's on an outright crusade against anyone in the party who disagrees with her purist stance on Trump and Jan 6th. For example, she has blasted a milquetoast, mainstream Republican like Glenn Youngkin for having "the audacity" to support Kari Lake's gubernatorial campaign.

Cheney would rather burn the entire party down than let Trump "get away with it", a stance which is objectively toxic for the GOP and only benefits Democrats.

Almost like Jan 6th is a fucking important part of the threat on Democracy and the leaders who enabled and encouraged it should be held to account.

If you let Trump get away with it then it WILL happen again. Her stance is entirely consistent and reasonable, you're just being a hack again.

To be clear, I don't like Cheney. I think she's a piece of shit who happens to be right on this one issue. Outside of this, she's a terrible person who is part of the problem. But that's the thing. She can be totally aligned with literally everything else in the Republican party, and they will ostracize her specifically for her stance on holding leadership accountable.

That's an important thing to see, instead of waiving it away.
