This always perplexes me. We literally take cancer from humans, sequence it, and target those sequences based on how they have mutated from the host for treatments. It has 99.99999999% sequence similarity to humans, and none to mushrooms.

I culture dozens of cancer cell lines in my lab, and even take samples directly from patients to turn into cell lines.

Not a mushroom in sight. In fact, we use anti-fungals specifically to prevent fungus from growing in our media.

If cancer was a fungal growth then we wouldn't have any cancer lines to research.
