The Qixi Festival, also known as the Qiqiao Festival, is a Chinese festival celebrating the annual meeting of the cowherd and weaver girl in mythology. The festival is celebrated on the seventh day of the seventh lunisolar month on the Lunar calendar. The festival was derived from worship of the natural astrology.

Perfectly fine with the likes of Japan, S Korea, Australia, Canada, most of western Europe, or just about anywhere with some form of human rights. If they take over one day from an economic or even cultural standpoint, so be it.

It shouldn't even need to be explained to anyone why the likes of China or Russia in that position would be awful for just about anywhere in the world.

She didn't do it for democracy nor did she stand up to CCP intimidation. It is already known that the CCP wouldn't do anything to her.

The last congressperson to go to Taiwan was Newt Gingrich like 25 years ago. This is a pretty big deal.

Yes but this time round is different.
Let me may I in my own words explain.

1. She did it to take heat off her scandal.
2. She did it to bring back some "pride" for the democratic party for mid terms.
3. She went there to ask for "donations" for up and coming mid term elections.
4. She did it for her own legacy not in the interest of the American people nor the Taiwanese people. It is all about her.

If she was that brave, she would have fly the most direct route across the South China Sea instead of taking a huge detour via indonesia and past philippines. I understand it is for security purpose but still...

China started air and sea blockade of Taiwan according to the Chinese TV. Expect chip prices to skyrocket.
