Here's the thing: you guys stopped learning biology after 10th grade. You only know basic biology. Most of us have college level understanding or even advanced degrees and careers in biology. You folks should really learn your place. Your ignorance isn't better than our education and experience.

The hair analogy was pretty stupid, the argument I hardly ever see come up that is much closer to the abortion debate is that of organ donation. You cannot be forced to donate an organ, or even blood for that matter, that could save someone's life because it is your body. That person whose life you could save does not override your choice to do what you want with your body. You can even decide to not donate a promised organ right up until the time of the operation to remove it. Mid operation or after it is out you cant request it back. However, if some back alley criminal steals your organ and gets caught right after you have every right to get your organ back. And that is the basis for the argument that in the case of rape it is without a doubt within the womans right to abort the child pretty much at any stage of the pregnancy in my opinion. It just creates an environment where dealing with false rape claims may be an even bigger issue then it already is.

The first debate is that the woman (and so did the man and I think more should be done to hold men accountable in this matter) made multiple choices before the pregnancy occurred (to not use birth control, to actually have sex, to not use any other form of protection, etc.) and took on the risks involved of potential pregnancy. And at some stage of pregnancy it is similar to the operation to remove an organ already being in motion and the woman had made her choice that she can not back away from now.

This then leaves the other debate of when does the baby become a baby and have the basic right to life?

Conception? (debatable)
When the brain begins to develop?
When there is a heart beat?
When there is a reaction to stimuli/pain?
When the baby is viable? Can it survive outside the womb on medical equipment the rest of the pregnancy?
When it can survive completely on its own outside of the womb but is not yet born?
Right at the time of birth? (I think most would agree the baby has the right to life sometime well before this point).

Ultimately the issue is far more complicated than either side really wants to admit, and because of that overturning Roe v Wade and leaving this issue to the states and their elected officials makes a lot of sense.



I never understand this, citizenship has nothing to do with this. I can't go around killing immigrants because they aren't citizens. Hell even dog fighting is illegal, I can't go around adopting dogs and murdering them for fun under the argument that they are my property now. The original intent of the born part of the 14th amendment was to grant citizenship to native Americans who did not have legal citizenship at the time. In the same vein, the whole anchor baby thing is a misinterpretation of the 14th amendment as well. It was never the intent to grant citizenship to illegal immigrant babies, though the idea of illegal immigrants was not a thing when it was originally written. However, we did not, and never have, granted citizenship to foreign ambassadors who have babies in the USA.

What makes you think a priest, who has studied religion as many years as a biology professor, does not know the answer to what is life as well as a biologist? You're both bouncing human ideas written by someone else around in your head, with much faith in your reading + life experiences, with goals of efficiency. Science is a belief, and most of science is theory and studies. And if you party with enough university researchers you know the execution is flawed, data is compiled by stoner grad students, most studies are based on unreplicated other studies data, but peer review(opinion) is good enough. And if a study is not good enough, well just lock it away for 75 years to avoid lawsuits. Likewise you have influence of special interests swaying the study questions to get the desired answers.

When you hail the Church of Science you're just going to get another crusade. History repeating.

I better get a biologist to identify my gender, otherwise a line will develop without the bioligist's expertise. What will we do? How will we survive without university certified educations.
