We still have people saying all gay people are pedos. It's a good thing when kids get engaged in these issues. People are always saying "zomg kids these days are so dumb" well you know how you get them to be less dumb? You get them engaged with the issues of the day. The kids who just let them environment teach them and don't branch out to new ideologies are the ones who move back home after college and spend their 30's on the internet talking about how government shouldn't have legalized interracial marriage.

if we had graphic t shirts in the 1960s we'd have seen "no darkies" shirts in public schools. we saw plenty of teens holding these signs publicly as black children were ushered into white schools by police.

Growing up I knew about every teachers life because they are people and want to share their experiences with the students. It's vitally important that teachers impart more than the textbooks they are teaching.
