It would have to be passed through their respective legislatures, and even then it's hard to come up with a tax scheme that would do that. Not everybody is going to be getting the $400 a week, so it's not as simple as "everybody pays an extra $100".

It's also $100 per week, not flat, so there's that as well.

Lol. Just lol. Do you seriously think that these deferred taxes will ever be paid? It's crystal clear that this can will be kicked down the road again and again and eventually thrown onto the pile of the national debt.

There's no way in hell the economy and people's personal finances will be in great shape again come April (when these taxes would be due), so the Biden or Trump administration and Congress (in whichever configuration) will have no other choice than to extend the deferral. The next time it comes up, in the fall or winter of 2021, it will be the same story. And the next time after that, it will already be too close to the midterms and the issue too politically toxic.

By late 2022 or whenever there would be the first real chance to force repayment without killing the economy, everyone will have forgotten about it or just go "fuck it". It will be the like the Bush tax cuts, which took on a life of their own, ending with 82% of their volume being made permanent by the Obama administration 11 years later.

yeah your hypothetical is too convoluted since Biden already signed off on agreeing with Pelosi/Schumer for a 3+ trillion dollar tax increase. so he would most certainly be on board with not letting American workers keep more of their hard-earned dollars and forcing them to ‘repay their own money back’

You all know my stance on taxes. I've made several main threads about it and been very clear where I stand.

Yeah this is one of his few and far between good moves.

I noticed that too, except that at the end of the year, you don't reconcile payroll taxes, only income taxes.
