The riots have now flared up in Atlanta, with the mob torching buildings and vehicles.

As seen in multiple videos of the encounter from bystanders, surveillance and bodycam all publicly available:
- Rayshard Brooks falls asleep in his car blocking a drive-thru lane at Wendys while drunk driving
- Police are called and talk with him for 27 minutes and are quite professional and courteous and ask him to perform a breathalyzer, which he does
- As they try to cuff him after it proves he's drunk, he struggles violently, grappling with, throwing and punching the officers in the head
- He grabs at the belt holster of one officer with a free hand but can't reach it, and manages to rip the taser out of the hands of one officer before he can use it
- The other officer tazes him but he takes off running, carrying the stolen taser, with both cops chasing in pursuit
- He turns, aims and fires the taser he stole at the officers, who return fire and critically wound him
After this, media and social media ran lots of high visibility posts in the next few hours saying an "unarmed black man was shot in the back and killed". He was still alive in surgery at the time, and was plainly armed with a stolen weapon after fighting cops, and was shot as he turned while shooting at officers, but that misinformation spread wide and far. He did die in surgery later, at least making that part accurate.
Since then:
- Rioters formed a mob and torched the Wendys where the incident occurred, a brand-new restaurant too
- The rioters spilled onto a freeway and torched several random vehicles parked along the road
- Atlanta's police chief, a woman nobody had any issues with nor had protested yet, resigned preemptively
- The family of Rayshard Brooks issued a statement denying a breathalyzer was used (its on video) and that no deadly force was warranted because its 'just a taser'
- Atlanta's black mayor joined the race war and declared "“I do not believe that this was a justified use of deadly force and have called for the immediate termination of the officer,”
- The officer who clearly did nothing wrong was indeed fired immediately
- Local DA is "investigating" whether to pursue charges against the officers
Yeah but this will be swept under the rug, internal investigation will eventually clear the officer and strike that from his record. Give it 3 months and he'll be back at his post, possibly with backpay.
