Coinbase allows Canadians to purchase, but not to sell. Wouldn't this be a big problem for Canadian users?

Well that's strange. I thought Canadians could do both things. I couldn't help you confirm this because here where I live in not allowed to buy nor sell in coinbase.

I use localbitcoins.com, which can be used anywhere in the world by anyone. Its directly between people.

Steps when you want to buy:

1) The seller puts his bitcoins into an escrow (he provides you with his bank account number or email) either in the private chat or in the description.

2) Then you transfer him (you can print screen the transfer and attach the image and send it to him, this is optional)

3) Click on "Paid" button (I recommend you click on "Paid" as soon as you transfer him).

4) Then he checks his account to confirm that he received the payment and then releases the bitcoins from the escrow (and goes to your localbitcoins wallet).

Done.

Important note: Make sure the seller puts his bitcoins into the escrow first before sending the transfer. As soon as you see the "Paid" option available that means the bitcoins are in the escrow.

Now, the steps if you decide to sell: it's basically the same steps.

To buy or sell, there are lists of users selling or buying, their rate and how much they are willing to buy or sell. You can choose the users from the list or just open your trade offer (whether you want to sell or buy). It's really easy and fast when you get used to it.

Are there any websites you know that also trade with other currencies like litecoin or IOTA?
I wonder why coinbase would allow Canadians to purchase, but not sell. Seems weird, I wonder if I'm understanding it wrong.

https://www.quadrigacx.com/ works well for Canadians I heard.

Doesn't have LTC.

However, you can buy ETH/BTC at quadriga, transfer to binance and buy IOTA / LTC.

However #2, careful with dat der IOTA!

Does bittrex/binance allow Canadians to withdraw? If so shouldn't I just use that?

I think IOTA has a lot of potential. You should buy some right now, since its very cheap, just $1.46 in https://coinmarketcap.com/coins/, and its #8 in market capitalization. So yeah has potential.

IOTA is a bit different than Bitcoin and Ethereum.

1) you need a wallet for it, check here with step by step explanation and screenshots on how to install your IOTA wallet: https://iota-help.com/how-to-install-iota-desktop-wallet/

2) How to generate the seed: https://iota-help.com/how-to-generate-iota-seed/

3) How to BUY/ACQUIRE IOTA: https://iota-help.com/how-to-buy-iota-coin-token/

You can buy $50 or so (more or less, up to you) worth of Bitcoins, then go to that exchange they recommend, Bitfinex (I think Binance is also exchanging IOTA too) and exchange bitcoins for IOTA, with around $50 or so worth of BTC, you can get like 30+ IOTA coins. Which might be worth something in the future.

Follow those steps, they are explained better there.

See edited post btw, careful with IOTA.

No, you would need to convert back to ETH/BTC -> Transfer -> Withdrawl.

Bittrex/Binance = crypto->crypto markets.

Great technology, but too much hassle, and security threats imo.

Yea Binance does have BTC/IOTA exchange.

Thanks for the info, I'll need to look into it a bit more. It seems like coinbase is a lot simpler than these other websites. Especially when trying to buy less known currencies

Read this the other day. Pretty interesting point of view from a finance guy that recommended bitcoin at 400.

This guys name is Chris Macintosh and he was on Frank Curzio podcast. Talked about blockchain for about an hour. Definitely the most comprehensive view i'v ever heard on this topic, i suggest anyone who is invested or thinking about investing to check that interview out.

This was a good read. Will try to check the podcast, is it on youtube?

Honestly, can't go wrong investing in BTC/ETH and holding. Lots expect BTC to keep going up, and ETH to hit $1,500 by Apr 2018. You could just invest in those and hold.

BTC controls the market, if it's up, alts are up. If it's down, alt's are down.

The difference is how much. BTC is up 1.36% in the past 24hr and THC is up 121.01% in the past 24hr.
