Americans do not vote based on policies, they vote based on feelings and party lines.
Here in australia i voted for julia gillard based on her campaign promises, when she broke those promises i voted her out.
Apparently in america doing the exact opposite of what you said you were going to do is perfectly fine.

I vote for a person based on policies, if they lied about all of their policies i would not support them anymore and i would certainly not bend over backwards trying to defend obvious deficiencies.
Why does trump inspire such loyalty from people he showed no loyalty to?
