He was already a pretty poor president when he died. JFK's foreign policy decisions were atrocious, the best FP moves of his presidency were ones that came from Robert McNamara. He put family members in positions of power. Domestically, he substantially increased the budget, creating a pattern and legacy of deficits that continues to this day. The economy boomed in the 1960s, but it was booming literally everywhere, and it was growing much faster in other locations. He supported civil rights, but he didn't have the stomach or balls to push for the end of segregation. His brother RFK was far more important for civil rights than he ever was. He could and should have done something about it far sooner, and I doubt he would have ever done as much for civil rights as LBJ did.

HIs love life absolutely mattered. He cheated on his wife with possibly more than a dozen different women, many of whom he had affairs with during his presidency. If Jackie would have filed for divorce, Kennedy would have been impeached.
