I see why it would be better than tribalism, but you're implying that because we haven't invaded Saudi Arabia that nobody from that country can be affected by our involvement.
Maybe not, but it comes across that way. And the US didn't gas anybody, Saddam did. The US didn't invade Iraq, Saddam did. The US did support the Shah, but when was he last in power? 1979. The US also supported Egyptian regimes. What did they do? They kept the peace. Boiled down, the US didn't act against the Wahabbi radicals that carried out 9/11.
