You're really going to use fire hazard as an arguement for new york? LOL.
As for the litter part, there are litter laws already in place that aren't being enforced that don't impede on the rights of others.

I was talking about more in general on the principle of the law where that is a real concern elsewhere.

There are also laws already in place making it so you can't drink in the park, camp in the park (or most of them), be in the park at certain times, cook/bbq in the park.

You should be allowed to camp and drink in the parks. Why have nature if you can't enjoy it?

I can't believe we agree on something, and totally legit point: Why isn't wearing perfume (or applying it) on public transport illegal then?

why shouldn't we? just because we have different political positions does not mean that there are not plenty real life scenarioes on which we would have a similar view
but since the majority of discussions here on pard are 'political' there will often be disagreement

I think banning smoking on beaches and in parks is more legit than banning it in bars.

Yeah, I never understood the bar ban at all.

I don't know what ever came of it, but in Honolulu they were trying to pass a law that you couldn't stink on public transportation, if you smelled too bad they wanted to fine you. They joked about it on Red Eye a few years ago.

Then you misunderstand the meaning of law.

Enlighten me. Because I'm pretty sure smoking and drinking are what bars are for. I think it should be up to the business personally.

Ummm, I think you misunderstood what they are talking about. Flickr mentioned that he was curious as to why the state had not banned cigs since they are extremely unhealthy for you and that was articwolfs response.

Because when the state starts controlling peoples personal lives you get this like drug cartels and gay marriage ban. As a homosexual you should be for as little Government involvement in personal lives as possible.

Not always, just because I'm gay doesn't mean I don't want what others do.

Far more deadly than second hand smoke. I'm still tasting it and i've had six beers since then. :p

You speak as if the wretched smell coming off her would be better than it is without the perfume.

Just out of curiosity, is there a single person out there complaining about this new bill that doesn't smoke?

Is a single person who's wholeheartedly in favor of it a smoker?

And really, isn't that rather the point that Santara's making?
