Amendments and laws can be modified by the government as and when it is needed to in order to cater for the current situation is that how it works in the US as well ?
The process for amending the constitution is intentionally hard. It’s not theoretically impossible (we’ve done it before). But in the current era of hyper polarization it’s effectively impossible.
The comment of ^TeenyUncle8 is also false, that is simply an opinion. The SCOTUS determines how written law is interpreted
Not even the government believes their executive order is currently constitutional. Hence why they are fighting on procedural grounds. It’s virtue signaling.
The 14th amendment whether you like its language or not is pretty damn explicit as it pertains to birthright citizenship. It doesn’t take a constitutional law expert to read the 14th amendment and understand what it’s saying.
