Rabbinic Judaism *is* present-day Judaism, Pharisaic Judaism & other sects are extinct.
A religion offers salvation/enlightenment for all people's of their own volition, cults are selective & secretive & don't just let anyone in.
You can’t just be a “Jew” you can just practice Judaism. By religious rites real Jews would have to still be pro-human sacrifice. That’s why most people who practice Judaism even if they have any Jewish heritage are involved in Rabbinic, secular or Orthodox Judaism because in modern society being a “practicing Jew” of the old religion would involve openly and gladly committing a few modern day crimes.
They wouldn’t hold true to the “whatever you hold true on earth” schtick because it’s New Testament and thus wouldn’t be accepted. That’s why you have so many branches of Judaism and Islam because some are modernize d(humane) and others are considered extreme.
