I don't base my own opinions and reasoning on what others say, lol.

My dude you parrot even incredibly stupid shit you see on whatever right wing sites you visit. It's a constant facet of your existence here that whatever I see going around the right-wing talks shows you will defend it vehemently using the exact same talking points regardless of their merit.

I have literally caught you using Nazi talking points because it was what was floating around the pro-Desantis grift-o-sphere at the time.

Maybe you are genuinely not aware of it though?

On this specific topic, the far-rightoids like Goom are calling it like it is, and the people who pretend to be centrist are saying it isn't. Actually gives me a good idea about what circles you follow. Goom follows the ones that are pretty mask-off, you follow the ones that pretend to be centrist. I'd say probably somebody adjacent to Tim Pool.

and before y'all say "well you follow XXXXX". Yeah, I follow basically everybody. I've been listening to right-talk radio since I was 17, listened to TYT for probably 10 years, listened to the Majority Report for like 10. Follow basically everybody to some degree, which is why whenever somebody gives me a talking point I can almost immediately tell where it came from based on the day they say it. Widow used to listen to Neil Boortz, and I knew it because he would repeat almost word for word his talking points the same day they came out.

Maybe I should have phrased it differently: I base my opinion on the quality of the arguments and reasoning surrounding an issue, be it my own or that of someone else - but not on the authority or the ideological affiinity of the person making that case. I don't go "most often I agree with Goom, and on this issue, Goom agrees with Thor, so that makes its more likely that I'm wrong and they are right".

Of course I will occasionally stumble over a right-wing talking point which I find persuasive and cogent and post it here - but just for the record, that's maybe 5% or less of the right-wing material I come across. Most of the them are wrong, cheap, irrelevant or outright silly. And of course all these right-wing talking points will be "incredibly stupid shit" in your mind, that's really not saying much.

Anyway, I'm constantly reaching across the ideological aisle, constantly disagreeing with posters on "my side" about specific issues. By contrast, I can't remember a single instance over the past years in which you strayed from leftist orthodoxy, can't remember a single leftist talking point you fundamentally disagreed with.

But hey, if the man who seemingly thinks John Roberts wants to equip Trump with dictatorial powers feels the need to lecture me on what a sheepish and out of touch propaganda victim I am, be my guest.

Admitting all you do is listen to other peoples opinions for 20 years is why people with a genuine opinion sound foreign to you. Not everyone digests all that political goop and walks out with an unbiased opinion. You didn't.

Should maybe read philosophy for the next X years to shake off all those political ideologs.

Dabble in a little Sanskrit you may learn something.

Not to mention the part where he's become so divorced from actual political ideology that he thinks everyone to the right of chairman mao is far-right.
Democrats are trying to argue they can ally themselves with Nazi war criminals and throw their political opponents in prison and any of us folks who support civil liberties, nationalizing healthcare, supporting the working class and opposing institutionalized discrimination- we're the mask-off far right now

I've said many, many times on PARD that political affiliation =/= ideology, and this is just shows how deep that can go. He can't even wrap his head around the idea that there are people who can wrap their head around ideas

That's the problem with politics itself. It is used as a divisive tool to pit you against other people based on ideology. I've lived in Chicago and the suburbs my entire life and people here become accustomed to "political corruption" and "identity politics". So what we have here in Chicago is two groups(red and blue) who blame EVERYONE but themselves and then take ZERO action towards engaging such a broken system. They truly believe Trump or Biden can wave a magic wand and all problems will be solved.

This is the exact same mentality people who believe Jesus Christ will return in the flesh and solve all the major problems humanity itself has faced for EONS.

The parties themselves have worked people into such a fervor and zealousness that instead of getting dialog that identifies problems and offers solutions we get "shouting matches" between ignorant people.

What's crazy to me is I've been a member of the Vedanta Society for close to 15 years and have been to hundreds of debates and lectures between different religious philosophies/cultures/ideologies and yet in that time I never sense the HATE I generally sense around "politics". Vedanta is about bringing every religion to the same table and ADMIT parts of their own doctrine that are DOGSHIT and be able to build a "blueprint" for a coerce method of interpreting spiritual texts.

Vedanta has grown substantially during that time frame because it allows a person essentially to follow ANY "god/philosophy" and achieve a desired result. I was raised Catholic and my Swami didn't say to read any Hindu/Eastern texts because he knew by my character that I didn't need them to understand the underlying truth of all religions.

Politics forces you to pick a side and then you are in a state of servitude to a system that never met your needs in the first place. This is the anger you see on both sides of the aisle because they have been LIED too and then they perpetuated that lie on the American people who are not stupid by any means.

I have friends and family like everyone who posts here that are amazing people but bring up politics and you see the vitriol and hatred in them. They have the same core beliefs but have been coaxed and coerced by society itself into somehow believing they are "different" from their neighbor, friends, and loved ones.

Bring up God and people come together across every barrier to discuss it because deep down they know what they speak of is the same thing everyone else speaks of. God is known by many names but that "God" is the same for all peoples. The truth.

Bring up politics and people find ways to disagree for the sake of argument alone(ego). What do all people want out of a politician? Honesty. What do we get? Dishonesty.

I do not identify with any political party or group because my opinions are my own and they are flawed like anyone elses. People of God can admit when their wrong(being humble). People of politics can never admit when their wrong(unquestioning loyalty).

Politics IS the PROBLEM and will never even come close to being a SOLUTION and how that isn't blatantly clear to all those capable of critical thinking is beyond me.

Most people refuse to admit they've been fooled. Whether it be "God" or "Politics" they are incapable of pulling away the sheaths that are formed by the mind. In Sanskrit there is a term called "maya" which stands for "illusion or magic" and a term called "sancocha" which is the "mental tension you feel as a result of the mind" aka it's not REAL but YOU make it real. When you learn from a "guru" a lot of western folks think it's some cult bullshit and it's not(that's my experience though). Guru literally translates as "darkness cutter" what is the goal of the guru? To get you to remove your ego YOURSELF because NO ONE can do it for you. The average person cannot silence their mind for even 10 minutes let alone cast off a bias they accumulated over a lifetime. So how do you begin to address it? Slowly and methodically thought by thought. What happens when you clear your mind of thoughts? You are in bliss because you are no longer bound by your own thoughts which are an illusion you created. That is why it's next to impossible for anyone to admit that.

Where am I going with all this? The people around me who chose to attach themselves to some political ideology benefited NOTHING and gave away time/energy and have not changed because politics attempts to convey absolutes that simply don't exist. The people around me who chose to detach from political ideology realized how toxic it WAS/IS the same way a x-drug addict realizes they never needed the drug in the first place. Only when you rid yourself of that will you experience that. You don't need politics just like you don't need a "personal God or image to worship". Vedanta cuts through all that bullshit and gives you a gazillion ways to go about it. Western Abrahamic religion/culture tells you what to believe in order to please a "higher power". Eastern philosophy says "You are God. Now what are you going to do". Politics essentially does the same thing except it tells you only through your affiliation with a group that your opinion matters. Only through a person smarter then you or more knowledgeable on politics can you contrive your opinion. What happens? People do NOTHING and expect something to happen. This is where Vivekananda said only through ACTION alone. He bashed his own(Hindus/Sikhs/Buddhists/etc) saying that because they know they are God they are content doing nothing whereas because the Westerners fear God and our trying to make it to heaven/avoid hell they actually "do something". The goal was to bridge the two as both contain beneficial aspects. If you take tenets from different FAITHS you will begin to see the similarities are endless and only the "symbols/language/stories" differ. You would think most people would attempt to do the same with politics but they do not. Political egotism and religious egotism are virtually the same. My God/ My politics are SUPERIOR to yours and here's all these reason why! Both are fucking crap and people see through bullshit.

I can talk for days on simple eastern philosophy and it feels good even when I know few will understand it(I don't expect people too).

I talk of politics and I taste poison in my mouth.

Blasphemy!

Christianity built the west into the powerhouse that it is today. Eastern philosophies/religion belong in the east. Christianity is VERY different from all other religions and it doesn't need "beneficial aspects". The reason why the west has become a degenerate shithole is because our collective abandonment of Christian values.

That being said, I do enjoy your posts about religion/philosophy even if I disagree with it. I wish there was more religious debate in pard but unfortunately most of my fellow pard brethren are godless heathens, so they have no strong opinions on the matter.

Unless you walk the streets preaching the gospel(good news) of Jesus Christ you are the blasphemer(not saying you directly but any person who considers themselves a follower of the teachings of Jesus Christ but then is silent in spreading the good news is NO follower of Christ). I have respect for Jehovah witnesses because they truly believe in the return of Christ and they will go door to door preaching his word and face the music when someone tells them "You are a fucking idiot leave me alone".

As someone who was raised Catholic I did not take it seriously UNTIL I saw how the Hindus/Buddhist/Sikhs see Jesus Christ. You'd be devastated to find the average Buddhist/Hindu/Sikh knows more of the teachings of Christ and his message then most "Christians" for the exact reason I stated. They say they are "Saved through the body and blood of Jesus Christ" but never commit to living as he did or understanding his word/action.

The problem with Christians like all the Abrahamic faiths is they think they have an exclusive claim to the "truth itself". They are "Gods people" and no one else unless they give themselves to "Christ". Yet anyone who looks at time(causal reality). Linear chronological time and sees that Buddha lived 600 years before Christ and Hinduism goes back thousands of years. All said the EXACT same things Christ did in their own language. Jesus was not the first HUMAN BEING to say "I am God". He was the first to put in a way people of his time could understand. Mostly illiterate people came to know "God" through him.

If you read ancient Sanskrit(even dabble in it) you will quickly realize the vast endless wealth of knowledge in all its forms. When you read the "Bible/Quran/Kabalah/etc." the knowledge begins and ends there. That's the problem. I only need to read this book and I'm saved! Ok read these books anyway and see if they help you better your relationship with Christ?! Like you said that's blasphemy! Yea because you don't want to go all the way.

Like Christ said, "I spit you out for you were neither hot nor cold but lukewarm". That's the modern Abrahamic faith in a nutshell. A bunch of "fair-weather casual believers". If you truly believed in Christ you would yell it to the world every moment of your waking life. FEW if ANY do that.

It's the right way to stay within the traditional values/religious belief system you were born into because then your beliefs don't become splintered like mine have. That doesn't make someone "closer to Christ" though because Christ dwells within the souls/consciousness of all beings.

I cared about my relationship with Christ and wanted to FEEL it through the entirety of my being and it took me studying all the other faiths/philosophies to do it. It's not wrong or right but it worked for me. Peace everlasting.
