However, being on top of a mountain doesn't do jack shit. You aren't helping yourself or anyone, there is no utility in it.
its not about being on top of a mountain, its about pushing yourself to your absolute mental and physical limits.
you are achieving what most would say is a "Peak experience" (not a pun, its a term Maslow coined -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peak_experience) which is the highest level of fulfillment and happiness one can achieve in life
obviously there is risk involved and if you have a family/and or people that depend on you, its a little different
