delinquents is a fun way to describe kids that were funneled into thinking they had to go to college or else they had no options. its funny that the same crowd that thinks having a book in the library about sex will ruin kids also thinks they should be immune to the entire education system all but forcing them into college. even when i graduated in 2007 it was 3 options, military, college, or start work in a factory. there was almost no information given on working in the trades, which is the best option overall for kids these days. if u didnt know a plumber or HVAC guy you likely didnt even know anything about the prospects of that path.
We need to look at it holistically. What incentives are we realistically creating by waiving half a trillion in student debt? It would be an enormous boon to the educational establishment that's largely responsible for the ills you just highlighted.

yes, debt relief and bankruptcy for banks, lenders and multi-billion dollar transnational corporations but not for college kids ! pull yourself by your bootstraps, kids!! what do you think this is, a socialist country??
College graduates tend to be high earners. It makes no sense, outside of clearly pandering to that demographic, to waive half a trillion in debt. I feel bad for the poor trade kid who passed on college to support his family. You're suggesting we pick his pocket to pay for a yuppie who can't control their Starbucks expenses.
