It is absurd Trump was considered a valid candidate imo, because of those things but not only.
I think it's a testament to how disillusioned voters are about the political system and not a testament to Trump being a good character/president.

Ergo my previous point about anyone with a populist agenda being able to run and succeed.

Like if you could make a potato sentient and train it to say it will do all the things you want if elected, without any difficult compromises.
It will curb immigration. Build a border wall. It will re industrialise and bring back American jobs for American workers.
It will do every thing you've wanted to alleviate your everyday frustrations.
Oh and president potato will reduce taxes. That's right. You will get more. And it will cost less.
