Just the other day, I saw a man dressed as a woman at the gym. I can say with a great deal of certainty that no one was confused about his identity. Unfortunately, it is impossible for this man to pass himself off as a woman. We really need third, fourth, and maybe fifth categories to accurately capture this sort of situation.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. A man acting as a woman isn't a woman, but a man acting as a woman. That's a unique situation that requires its own category. "Woman" means something very specific in English, we don't need to forcibly rewrite the dictionary in some mistaken effort to reinvent the wheel.
